"The Indoctrination Myth," an op-ed piece in the Sunday Review section of the New York Times by sociologist Neil Gross, discusses allegations in the recent presidential campaign that colleges and universities are "indoctrination mills" for godless liberalism. Gross cites the research of several sociologists, political scientists, and higher education researchers, including that of UCSB's M. Kent Jennings and his colleague, Laura Stoker (U.C. Berkeley) related to the question: Does attending college actually make you more liberal and less religious? Gross concludes, "Research indicates that the answer is: not so much."
