Political Science Undergrad Is Recipient of Boren Scholarship

Olivia Wong was awarded a Boren Scholarship for her studies abroad in Japan during the academic year 2011-2012.

Donald L. Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad.  Scholarships are funded by the National Security Education Prograpm (NESP ), a major federal initiative designed to build a broader and more qualified pool of U.S. Citizens with foreign language and international skills.  The focus of the awards is on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study deemed critical to U.S. national security.

Boren award recipients agree to work in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.  Olivia plans to work in a position with national secruity responsibilities after she graduates.
