Speaker:
Amanda Zeddy, PhD Candiate, UCSB Department of Political Science

Amanda Zeddy will be discussing a chapter of her dissertation entitled, "Constructed and Constructing Selves: Theoretical Considerations of Gender, other Salient Identities, and the Boundaries of the Political" at the Political Theory Workshop on October 25th. Her project uses ethnographic methods to examine the following question: How do individuals' identity constructions in western North Carolina affect how individuals cognitively process political information? In this chapter she reflects on several theoretical perspectives that provide analytical tools that have the ability to interpret a broad range of ethnographic data within the project, such as archival documents, participant observation, and about twenty semi-structured, in-depth interviews.   Please contact Amanda Zeddy (zeddy@umail.ucsb.edu) or Paige Digeser (digeser@polsci.ucsb.edu) if you want a copy of the chapter.   All are welcome!
