Marlene Laruelle is a specialist in the politics and history of Russia and Eurasia.  She is Research Professor of International Affairs at the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (IERES), Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University.  She is the author or co-author of The Chinese Question in Central Asia: Domestic Order, Social Change, and the Chinese FactorIn the Name of the Nation: Nationalism and Politics in Contemporary Russia, and  Russian Eurasianism: An Ideology of Empire. She is also editor of a number of books on contemporary Russia and Central Asia in English, French, and Russian.
