Evolving Multilateral Environmental Governance

How can international cooperation lead to improved environmental quality?  This talk presents a provisional analysis of multilateral environmental treaties,  It seeks to better understand the effect of international institutions and organized scientific knowledge on effective multilateral environmental cooperation and its broader political implications.

Peter Haas is Professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  He is the author of nine books, including Saving the Mediterreanean and Controversies in Globalization.  He has served as consultant to numerous government agencies and NGOs.
