Please note the following:
- We do not offer appointments. ALL advising is first-come, first served.
- Students seeking to join or add our major are required to have either an in-person or Zoom consultation prior to submitting a Change of Major petition via Student Success Hub. No exceptions.
- Students seeking signatures on EAP, UCDC, or UC Sac forms are also required to have either an in-person or Zoom consultation prior to submitting the forms(s) for signature. No exceptions.

Dan Van Dorn, M.Ed.
Dan is the career Academic Advisor & Assistant in Political Science. He previously served as an Administrative Support Coordinator at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Program Manager at Dartmouth College. This follows a 25-year career in cartography. He enjoys swimming, hiking, cycling, skiing, paddling, travel, and live music. He is exceedingly proud of his 2 adult children.
Sophia Brockmiller
Sophia Brockmiller is a third-year political science student with a double minor in history and english. She serves as the president of UCSB Model United Nations, a Senior Editor for the Undergraduate Law Journal, and a member of Associated Students. Sophia hopes to pursue a career after undergrad in international law. During her little freetime, she enjoys anything related to musical theater, reading classical literature, and going to the beach.
Eleanor Greer
Eleanor Greer is a 3rd year Political Science and Economics double major, and is especially interested in comparative politics. She is currently on UCSB’s Rowing team. After graduating, she plans on going to law school, but is still undecided as to what area of law she would like to make her career in. In her free time, she enjoys all things outdoors–running, hiking, bouldering, or reading at the beach.
