Anger (Mis)Management? Exploring Racial Differences in the Emotional Foundations of Political Action

Professor Phoenix will present some of his work examining the impact of race on individuals' emotional and behavioral responses to political cues in their environment. He will emphasize the practical implications for this work, specifically in terms of the political behavior of African Americans in the current election context. He will raise some of the issues this project presents for scholarly understanding of the influences of affect, race, and political communication, as well as  measurement of critical indicators of political engagement.
